In the past, dealing with people issues was seen very much as the role of HR.  However in today’s working environments, this responsibility has been devolved to line managers’. In the business world today, it is now up to line managers to manage people issues as and when they arise. They must take into consideration the specific circumstances of the issues that they are managing as well as ensure that they are following key employment legislation. It is therefore vital that line managers have a practical understanding of the UK’s ever-changing and increasingly complex employment legislation.
