As an individual you have a unique window on the world, and it is subjective and filtered. Others cannot see things the way the individual themself sees things, but most people are blind to this, and expect their reality to be imposed on those around them. Developing Emotional Intelligence (EQ) enhances your understanding of yourself, and that of people around you. EQ is the capacity for effectively recognising and managing our own emotions and those of others around us. Emotions have the potential to get in the way of most business and organisational relationships, and a lack of EQ will usually result in poor performing managers.  

Emotional Intelligence can make the difference between average performers and brilliant performers, especially in management positions and today is regarded as important if not more so than IQ. Indeed recent research that tracked over 160 high performing managers in a variety of roles and industries found that EQ was twice more important in contributing to better performance than intellect and expertise alone.
